Violence among Youths

•
The advent of violence today in Nigeria can not be over-emphasized without looking into the damage done to the growth of the economy. The outbreak of sudden violence which sometimes becomes uncontrollable by security agencies within the country has drawn the attention of global community on this part of the African continent. To this, violence in Nigeria has made the country economically unbalanced
The youths are not left out in the outbreak of violence. A sizeable number of youths today in Nigeria have become epitome of violence. These set of people are ruthless, heartless and deadly. This is what they know how to do best. They see violence as a profession. They feed on violence daily. And this is particularly worrisome as it causes a great threat to the Government, individual lives, families, Organizations and various institutions. To the Niger-Deltans, violence is a mere event that occurs on a daily basis. The youths within the region get involved in violence to make a living. Various youth groups in the region, whose main aim is to fight injustice for its affected members, are not left out. These groups have now turned into militant groups whose aim is to fight for justice in unruly acts. They now engage in kidnapping, cultism and vandalizing of petroleum pipelines. To this, the Federal Government has made some move in curbing the displayed acts of these miscreants by sending the Joint Task force (JTF) to the region and also the creation of the Niger-Delta Ministry that they say will see to the implementation of the region’s master plan. This seems to be a great effort made by the Federal Government. The question is; will this bring a lasting solution to the region? Can a problem ever be solved without first identifying the cause of the problem? The militancy of these groups is still a threat to the economy if the cause is not identified
But what could be the cause of their militancy? What could have resulted to the major cause of the violence? This brings to mind the advents of military coups experienced in the country in the past. Politically, the leaders are major cause of the problems. Their greedy governance has put corruption on the high side, thus making various states and communities under-developed, living no room for the trace of quality education, high rate of productivity in the various sectors, good health services, availability of agricultural farm produce, good road network, safe drinking water and what we are still hoping to experience a turn around the energy and power. This has placed the country in anguish and Violence is on the high. The government, institutions, organizations and families need to answer to the wake-up call to bring our country to map as one of the best economy in the world. Every one of us has a role to play to bring about peace in our country.

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT: SERIES TWO Career guidance a way of tackling Unemployment

In a developing state like Nigeria, you will find hundreds, if not thousands of unemployed graduates roaming about the streets looking for job. But in my own opinion, I believe the main solution to this problem is proper guidance whereby youths are given proper guidance on the career they choose.
Wrong guidance is one of the major factors that promote unemployment in Nigeria. You see in some family, where the parent tells the child, “I want you to be a lawyer, doctor, nurse” but naturally these child is talented in teaching or love to teach. But because the hype of teachers in this modern day Nigeria, it might not be compared with that of a lawyer, doctor e.t.c then here comes the well talented teacher becoming a lawyer but because he or she does not have a natural talent in soliciting or advocating. He or she might not perform well in that field, of which he or she might loose interest later, like the Yoruba proverb says “Abinibi yato si Ability” meaning natural talent is different from the one you learnt. A friend once told me how her dad was forcing a course of study on her, of which she was naturally talented in another field; I believe parent should give guidance to the child not force a career on them, just because they were victim of their own parent too. As a Nigerian Born and Breed Youth, Most time we were told by our parents that the purpose of studying is to get that job in that big company which only very few of us get. This serves as the main cause of unemployment because those who went to school to study building engineer or Zoology in school come out to look for jobs in Oil Company and Banks, so as to please their friends and family and they may end up not finding any, and to save themselves the shame, they venture into Yahoozey. In the case of Yahoozey, we have large number of youth (future leaders), who are into Yahoozey. They have seen it as livelihood since the government have no means of empowering them. Even a little child of six years knows or have seen some of our leaders on television or on the pages of newspaper been arraigned for misconduct or malfeasance, so what do you think is the faith of that little boy. His believes that fraud is no crime since the leaders are involved and nothing was done to them, so he can do it and go scot free, I heard that these days when the “men in black” catch you robbing people or stealing, you are told Yahoozey is a better act than robbing. But I totally object to that motion, the difference between Yahoozey and armed robbery is that an armed robber use weapons, while the “Yahoozey” or “419” or better still fraudsters use their brain. But they are all guilty of crime; Obtaining from another person through a forceful means, of which the criminal code of Nigeria will have anyone caught in that act to be jailed.
The only thing the government can do to curb unemployment in Nigeria is simply, creating an avenue for employment; giving the youth proper guidance on their career of choice. So also giving the youth insights and empowering them on plumbering works, Electrical works “Electrician”, Mechanical engineering “Mechanics” e.t.c. Often than not, these jobs are often underrated by the youth as menial jobs, but I know people who are making millions with this jobs, because they are satisfying 1% of the 150 million Nigerians, But some youths are too big to go into these venture, they want oil company money, which they might not get, they later end their life searching and giving up on life. The federal government should also create an avenue for jobs in rural area, so as to decrease the migration of youth to the urban area thereby causing mass unemployment. . I must also commend what Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola is doing in Lagos State; I mean the Mega City project going on. That is a good example of leadership. The project will create job Opportunity for thousands of lagosian and Nigerians. The project has made the Lagos state government to create jobs like; Latsma, Kai, Lamata, and lawma e.t.c. these are all state government initiative, not to mention the B.R.T Bus Drivers that Lagos state employed...... So unemployment in my own terms can be defined as a lack of career guidance on the part of the youth and much focus on other things than the youth (Future of Nigeria) by the government. I believe that the government, our parents and even we (The Youths) can help tackle unemployment through all these patterns and ways.

Rating the Nigerian Graduates

Few days back, I was reading an article online, that talks on how some Nigerian graduate steal there way through university by cheating during examination sections. As for me, I feel most of our graduates are products of our society. Since some of our politicians steal their way into office without being voted in, so its no big deal (The Ballot or The Bullet syndrome). Sometimes you can not expect good fruits from a rotten tree, I believe Some of these graduate that cheat their way through school do not even know the value of true education(I mean real Knowledge). They are just attending university to please societal expectations and that of their parents.
Our educational environment also allows a situation where you can do anything to get your certificate and what do you expect from the lazy ones? Pay your way through. I will blame it on our declining educational system, and the fact that People are more obsessed with getting their 1st class and 2.1s rather than getting real knowledge/wisdom. Plus our examination system is also crap so the people with higher grades are not necessarily the smartest ones, that is not to say that I don't acknowledge the fact that our educational standard has fallen drastically, as a result of many years of political instability and Asuu Strike. I think we started well, when these schools were being founded, but the long years of military rule and lack of general development has taken its toll, and we have fallen way behind even the likes of Ghana and Cameroon.
Seriously, Graduates from Nigerian universities still have lot of things to learn. I'm not saying that when you school overseas you get the best education but you find out that those over there are much more knowledgeable than the ones in Nigeria. I'm not saying Nigeria is not a good place for education, but our problem is just that we lack the facilities and until the government looks into the education sector, it will continue to worsen. The unfortunate truth about Nigerian Universities in particular is that with all the academic strife, victimisation from lecturers, politics, ASUU and NASU Strikes, the destructive policies of the respective governments of the day, poverty and corruption have not helped matters. The typical Nigerian student really doesn't have time to apply him/herself to the main goals of being in the university. Some of the Nigerian students lack self-Study and self-development, many Nigerian students, if quizzed, would hardly admit to taking time on their own to self-develop (read outside the scope). They would rather be spoon-fed via lectures and assignments. The coursework are often submitted according to last minute deadlines, which are often not met, Also, opportunities for interaction with other academic spheres are often limited.. No viable exchange programs with schools of other countries, even the various industrial/training attachments and placements are done according to the way they are supposed to be done.
But, I strongly believe that if the Nigerian Students are in a stable, conducive and comfortable learning environment, the so called British or American students can not stand our brains, and I also acknowledge the fact that we have graduates who are worth their salt. They are not deterred by what is going on around them; I also Thank God there are graduates who are still proving that hard work pays off.
Finally, as long as we are down here in Nigeria, our economy, social consciousness, and polity will remain in the doldrums. Even in the corporate world, I see the stark reality of our collective incompetence and profligacy every day, and it's saddening. But I think there's a lot of hope. I've seen the way the new breed of students (at least the serious ones) embrace the Internet as a learning tool. I'll encourage all Nigerian students to equip their selves as best as possible, even as we experience an asuu strike or seize in our learning process, that the government is doing nothing to resolve it, during this period let’s get the best of education we can get from all over the world through the aid of the internet. At the end of the day, if we take this attitude, the impact will be felt at home and in our life. I believe in the future of Nigeria, God bless Nigeria. Greatest Nigerian Student....... We shall get there.

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT SERIES ONE: Tackling Unemployment

Every year, young, energetic, and vibrant graduates are being pumped out of NYSC in two batches. Many of them travel here and there in search of greener pasture in several multinational companies, private companies, banks etc. but only a few remain lucky after several attempt. I have always wondered how unemployment can be high in a country like Nigeria where barriers to business have not yet been set up (the politicians haven't had time). But how long will people fold their arms and remain hungry waiting for government to give them jobs? Do we really think government can provide jobs for all? What then will happen to the unlucky ones that will never get a job? That’s what pump into my mind, so I made up my mind to write on youth empowerment, for atleast four publications, because I believe the youth need to be empowered, I also believe they are the future of Nigeria and if they fail, the nation would fail. Seriously every time I look on the streets and see the hopelessness on the face of highly qualified but jobless people, it eats at my soul. You know it beats me that here in Nigeria it is becoming the norm to find a whole family where virtually every member of that family is unemployed, not because they don’t have qualified people in that family but they just can not get employment. I believe there are so many opportunities in this country, once you get out of the mindset of getting jobs or ‘just opening a shop and selling things'. People need to be innovative, like the Americans will say 'if life hands you lemon make lemonade'. People need to think 'outside the box, yes we all know the leadership problem, rampant corruption of the nation. I just cannot understand, why a country with the amount of oil it has - the roads, sanitation, and other general infrastructure is so bad and/or not maintained and the unemployment rate is so high. The unemployment situation in the country is unacceptable and is the reason behind the constant social upheavals in the country. The devil they say, finds work for idle hands that’s why Fraudulent practices is fast gaining ground among our youths today , the unemployed took to fraudulent practices like advance fee fraud alias yahoo! yahoo! But can a country be called giant and it continues to accumulate all sort of mass unemployment and Fraudulent acts, I wrote about the Nigerian Youth and their reputation abroad a while back, I believe it’s the state of the nation, that make the youth, find any way to make it abroad, thereby destroying the nations reputation abroad. The ones who are immune from the joblessness sometimes are the Mr know people and Miss Know people (am not generalising), as a matter of fact, now the slogan is “who you know” and knowing the right person to connect you to the final sets in getting the job, sometimes it makes you wonder why you did not go to school to study 'know someone in there' as a first degree so that when you graduate, you would have someone place you somewhere (get you a job) because he has 'connections' in quotes . Another is, when they don’t employ fresh or coarse graduates who have some few years experience. Or none at all, who are we (they) to grab it when they (employers) keep giving excuses? The unemployed need a break, that’s why a lot of graduates after spending years in school reading a course like biochemistry or civil engineering, come out doing something else , like working in banks.
The truth is that an average young Nigerian has mentality to go school, study well then look for a well paying job. Nobody is thinking of how to create a job and that is why there will always be no job for the job seekers. We have a lot of entrepreneurial drive in this country, far more than any other sub-Saharan black nation. Let me give you some wisdom now that there is no job, and the current financial crisis is an opportunity for you to make some cash. You can create a career school, were people learn some technical stuff, you just have to find a venue, probably a school which you can use in the evening, and find people with skills to teach, and they should be the best in their given field. About money you can get the LGA to sponsor people, or even politician or companies. You never can tell what you can achieve till you start thinking and start acting. Or As a fresh graduate, you can do some manual jobs to get some money for yourself before your NYSC and start up something. You can even make a lot of sacrifices during your service year to be able to make some savings, and if you have the mindset that this country doesn't have anything to offer you on completion of your service, you can then use the little money you were able to save to start up a small business which you know you are good at and if you are focused, I assure you, the top will be your position. And for young entrepneur, this might be an “Expo” The packaging industry in Nigeria is unexplored. Garri packed the same old way, palm oil- you have to take your own bottle along to buy, do you like plantain chips- how is it packaged. The truth is that people will pay abit more for quality especially Nigerians, you know we like style. Remember ice water, over thrown by pure water. The population of Nigeria is over 150 million, if you can satisfy 1% of this population and make =N= 1 .00 profit from each customer, in a year your business would have made =N=1,000,000.00 profit But you have to Do your research well and think of the market you want to satisfy.
I would keep saying this, that the only solution to unemployment is creating a job, Let us leave the government because they have failed themselves and we owe ourselves a duty to survive even in the midst of confusion. It is only a lazy man that will sit back and continue to complain about a situation instead of finding a solution. The situation in this country is bad beyond description, so we all have to find a way out and the answer remains " VISION AND SACRIFICE" which will lead to you being an entrepreneur of your own, if you don’t have huge cash start small", you don't need to have up to N80, 000 before you can start up a business and you'll also create more jobs for other people through your own business. Through this you contribute to the development of Nigeria. Worst still if you don’t have money at all and you atleast have an idea, all you need to do is look for someone that has money kept in the bank, and sell your Idea, make him a share holder, sure everyone will be happy to own a company that has prospects if you know what you are doing. Be aware that some of them might reject your proposal but don’t give up. One of the greatest problems we have in Nigeria is corruption and greediness amongst the so called privileged rich Nigerians. They only dumped their wealth into bank deposits and never care about how to use their wealth to create job opportunity to the less privilege. Imagine an individual buying a bullet proof car at the rate of Hundred million Naira (N100, 000,000.00) just trying to create security for themselves. That money is big enough to invest where other people will benefit. Look at people like dangote, Otedola’s, mike adenuga; these people created job opportunities. That’s what we need. Rich people who are ready to lend a helping hand. I must also commend what Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola is doing in Lagos State; I mean the Mega City project going on. That is a good example of leadership. The project will create job Opportunity for thousands of lagosian and Nigerians. The project has made the Lagos state government to create jobs like; Latsma, Kai, Lamata, lawma e.t.c. these are all state government initiative, not to mention the B.R.T Bus Drivers that Lagos state employed.
I would love to tell the youth, please Change your orientation towards creating a job no matter how small you start as long as you are focus within few years you will see yourself at the top. Bishop David Oyedepo started the winners’ chapel with his family as the only congregation. It is time for the youths of Nigeria to speak out their voice and stair this great nation in the right part to go, the ability lies in our hands to do this, Finally I have a piece of advice for you, look for a quite place sit down and think, about ur abilities, there is something God deposited in you to excel, you are unique and whole , there is no two of your kind on earth ,its just you with those special abilities, let me ask , is there anyone who has the same finger print with another ,definitely NO Same apply to ur ability, search there is something about you. Hope this article helps I would continue with the second series next two weeks, if you have any comments or suggestions mail me on wisdomelite@gmail.com...

Rebuilding Nigeria

For the past two weeks, almost every Television Program you watch, you see a tag like this “Rebranding Nigeria”, even different writers write on the topic, well am happy for that move by the federal government, even to the extent the federal government is sending out text to all Nigerians, Incase you don’t know, the text goes thus “Nigeria Good People Great Nation”, you would have seen the sender FGN (Federal Government of Nigeria), almost all the people I asked if they got the text said yes but they have deleted it. These would happen because Nigerians have become so cynical about the capability of our Leaders but the question goes thus, is Nigeria branded? And what are we rebranding? As far as am concerned Nigeria need to be rebuilt not rebranded. Because we were never a brand and Nigeria has never been branded.

I remember the poll that placed Nigerians as the happiest people on the earth? Some think this is a good thing. It isn't as the popular saying goes by Fela Anikulapo Kuti “Suffering and smiling“, you might even think it implies resilience. I think it points to our laziness and careless attitude. Rather than change things, many Nigerians are content to sit by and look, hoping somebody will risk his life to make things better while the rest of us enjoy.
How did the leaders end up with the personality traits and the lack of skills that render them unfit to change the way things are? Well thanks to “Prof Dora Akinyuli” the minister of Information who noticed it and she is trying to work things out.

The main point of this article is how do we build Nigeria? I believe corruption is all over the world. Talk about poor government policies, it’s everywhere in the world. But the only thing all countries don't have in common is the citizens and the attitude of citizens goes a long way in building a great nation. Government doesn't build good roads and give stable power supply etc, yes I agree. But how many Nigerians pay their taxes. Except you are working for a big firm or a bank and you can't hide, most Nigerians scam their government on a regular basis, and I believe its even the cause of the fall of Naira and our economical problem. I'm not saying that if they paid their taxes then the taxes with be well spent on public utilities by the government. But I am saying that it takes two to tango. So also I notice Nigerians are able to comport themselves once they get to the west. They stop Urinating on the streets, they stop throwing thrash on the streets, and many even stop beating traffic rules. How come we are able to be civilized outside and follow the Laws of other countries, yet we do not abide by ours. If we really want to talk about rebuilding Nigeria, all Nigerian citizens need to answer these questions, to know if you are in the negative side or positive side, if your answer is yes to any of these question I would list, then you are on the negative side; How many of you have driven up to a petrol station, found a queue there and actually stayed on the line and patiently waited for your turn, how many of you drive against traffic (One way)? Just so that you can beat the hold up in front, how many of you have deliberately broken the law? Just because you know that you can pay your way out of any problem that might arise, how many Nigerian Students can boldly stand and say that he or she has never cheated in any examination before in his or her life time? I'm talking from Common entrance to SSCE to JAMB to even the University level, how many Nigerians would return a phone or wallet found on the street? How many times have you thrown out the wrapper of biscuit or empty sachet of water from a moving vehicle?? How many of you actually come out of your houses to observe the state environmental sanitation?? How many of you would use a pedestrian crossing rather run across the express way?? How many Nigerian drivers actually have a valid drivers licence?? I did not say qualified to drive. That’s another topic on its own. well I can ask a million questions but I believe these few question matters as the other would have been.

For the dream of rebuilding Nigeria to be realised I believe we the youth must add our own quota, Looking at a soccer team for an example, in order for the team to accomplish its goal, all the players must be willing to contribute, work together and sacrifice personal agendas but the team will usually disarray as soon as the players start focusing on what they can get from the team instead of doing what it takes to get the objective accomplished together.
Imagine, two players playing for endorsement, four(4) playing to show up their skill to other teams’ scouts, four(4) playing just for the playing sake and only two(2) playing to win the championship for the team. The truth is Team like this will never be successful no matter how good one of the player his. As a popular proverb goes “A tree can’t make a forest”.
Finally we all know that faith without work is dead, a faith in a better Nigeria or rebuilt Nigeria without the work towards it, would be futile. Looking at the people of Ghana who suffered in the 80’s and the people of Ghana of the present day, did the people change or did the government change? I believe the people changed their attitudes, which rise to a change in government.
Change must start from we the youth, because we are the leaders of tomorrow. Make a conscious effort towards change today and watch Nigeria transform. “God Bless Nigeria”

Wisdom quotes by past and current leaders, legends and heroes.

2. “Our respect for Law and order must change” – Pastor Chris Oyakhilome
3. “No one will build Nigeria for us, Nigeria will be built by Nigerians” – Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

The Nigerian Youth and Politics

Prior to the Current situation of the Ekiti State Election Rerun, I don’t want to deliberate on the topic, because we have series of article written on it. But the issue is that, if it takes 2-3weeks to conduct an election in a state, how many years would it take for a country. I wonder what is wrong with our electoral system. But I believe the electioneering process in Nigeria is bereft of creativity. However, I still believe the change will start from us the youth involving in politics, maybe contesting at the Local Government level for a start.
Recently I wrote on the topic “The Nigerian Youth and Their Reputation Abroad”, I was baffled to see, youth emailing me and commenting on the topic, some even went to the extent to say they are ready to take the challenge of leadership, while some say they were afraid due to the current situation of Election Rigging, that their effort would be in vain. While some say they lack finance, I believe what we need first, is innovation in the way elections are conducted in Nigeria and I don't believe money can hinder an honest person's way to power in Nigeria. If we can all agree to donate as low as 50 Naira each to a serious candidate, it will take him or her somewhere. Obama’s campaign started with people donating $5 to $20, to help. I mean the common man on the street.

To achieve the goal of Educating youth on the need of selfless service as a leader I believe we need to teach them, what politics is about, because some youth believe it’s a means of selfish service not selfless service, few months ago, as I was walking down, the streets of Fadeyi Lagos Nigeria. There I saw a poster of an old church member of mine. His father was the pastor of my parish then. I was amazed and gladden to see a youth standout, in the midst of electoral malpractice and contest for counsellorship position, not under the banner of a small part, but a very big and strong party, that I won’t mention here .I was very excited, not until few months later when I saw this same boy in an internet Cafe, when I went to check my emails and I told him how happy I was to see youths like him, involving themselves in politics against all odds. But I was wrong; he answered me first by saying “I lost the election”, and “Am Back in the street fully, me contesting in the first place was a means to an end”. I was shocked to see a future leader like this boy already planning to use politics as a means to an end, and not as a means of serving, leading and impacting change in the society. The question boils to; where is the true Nigerian spirit in this young lad? Whose view of politics is a means of looting from government coffers rather than serving that very day I was so disappointed. What is really killing us is that, everyone is out for themselves or their people. We do not believe in the Nigeria Dream or the Power of Our youth to bring about change. It’s about time all Nigerians over the age of eighteen take responsibility for the wrong and rights they choose.
Even some of us that still keep the "green-white-green" flying sometimes wonder if we are doing the right thing. But does the government really know we are taking so much by keeping the flag flying? Are they really and genuinely concerned about solving some of the major problems like power supply? The truth is that we the youth are not doing enough to restructure our political process. If Adams Oshiomhole can fight for his stolen mandate in Edo State and recover it, there is hope for good and credible leadership in Nigeria. However, we need to work hard to enthrone the right leaders that will take us to the Promised Land. President Barack Obama has shown us the way by proving that change can come from unexpected places.
As a Nigerian, I want you to ask yourself if you've done much to support honest leaders in your small sphere of influence. How many good leaders are you supporting in your community and how are you empowering the youth to get involve in Politics of Hope. But I still believe that until common folks on the streets and villages become emboldened to demand accountability from government officials, Nigeria will continue to grope in the dark.

I believe we can all turn things around in Nigeria as youth. Obama utilized Face book and Twitter [Two amazing social networking sites] to sign up about two million supporters. What are we doing with the internet political wise in Nigeria? With many youths embracing the internet in Nigeria, the World Wide Web can change the face of politics in Nigeria. How many of our local government candidates actually address voters neighbourhood by neighbourhood? How many of them walk into our churches, Mosques, community centres, open playing fields etc to talk to people in the area they want to govern. These are the points where, we the Nigerian youth should work on. We should start working from the grass root.

I noticed that most of the Nigerian youths are too afraid to step up to take back power, I mean too scared to Involve in Politics, since the future belongs to us. But we are willing to sit back and blame the Old Leaders for their own Negligence.
Finally I believe our graduates need to start vying for councillorship and Local Government Chairman Seats. That is where the real change will begin. Let us strive and get the Corrupt Officials out of those grass root offices first, by supporting young Politicians. I'm not into politics fully but I will gladly support any candidate who wants to carry out his campaign innovatively. If we the youth start to get involved in politics then the green pastures we are looking for in other countries would then be created in our country. We the youth need to bake our own cake and pastries and stop going after the Corrupt Old Politician as tugs and Touts. Remember it takes a courageous youth to stand-up and say I HAVE A DREAM and I Can SEE THE LIGHT! In the midst, of Dark Clouds, just as, Rev M.L.K stood up in the Dark ages of Racial Segregation in America. I believe in Change and the Power of Our Democracy as Youth.
“God Bless Nigeria” If you are a youth and you have a vision or Plan for Nigeria, either politically or economically mail me on wisdomelite@gmail.com

The Power of Our Democracy

Last week on the discussion board, I asked a question on the Vision 2020 and I asked the youth to send me their views on the topic, most of them emailed me and told me they have lost hope on the vision 2020, some even made it straight that the Vision 2020 project would be the biggest flop of the century. As for me, I still believe that the Nigerian Dream can be achieved. We don't have to give up the hope. It is the hatred of change by most of our Leaders and youth of this country that is holding our progress back. We need to change our mentality because we are the change that we seek. However what does being “the change” mean if we are not willing to work towards changing things or if we are not willing to work at all but rather, point accusing fingers on Senator “A” and Governor “B” or sit at the comfort of our homes knowing that “we are the change”
One of the main obstacles to real development in Nigeria is the mentality of the Nigerian people, because we fail to realise that the solution lies with all of us, especially the youth. The only set of people speaking with one voice and one goal in Nigeria are the ruling elites, and today they are more powerful than the populace who outnumber them by hundreds of millions. The other option of getting to achieve the Nigerian dream, is youth empowerment, the government should invest their time and money on youth empowerment, instead of wasting money on things that would not benefit the future of our dear nation. But thank God for the “Nigerian Youth Dream Movement” who has taken the future of Nigeria as their own cup of tea, they plan to empower this youth because the so called selfish politician wants to make use of the youth who are jobless as their thugs’ .for instance Ekiti rerun election has shown us that the thugs are unemployed. That’s why I wrote on youth empowerment, few weeks back. So also I believe Every Nigerian youth needs to get civilised first. We are not civilised See what happened in South Africa or Ghana might not happen in Nigeria in the next 50years, except we take up the gauntlet and start taking the destiny of Nigeria into our hands, then things will change. We need to stop being armchair critics. People will always follow the man who knows where he is going. Everybody is hailing Fashola because he decided to be different. Change in Nigeria starts with me and you, The Bolshevik Revolution in Russia was hatched over some months in a room. Most of the guys that led the Russian Revolution were intellectuals i.e. Lenin, Trotsky e.t.c. They were just fed up with how the Russian Populace were being ruled by the Tsar and his cabinet. The good thing was that when Lenin and his men sparked off the revolution, they didn’t need to do much. Ordinary Russians seized the initiative and took their destinies into their hands. Russian soldiers who had just returned from fighting in the French Revolution joined the civilians in fishing out the corrupt leaders. Since June 12 1993, the "masses" have always known the meaning of democracy and how to use it. They voted, their choice was made, and their choice won. But then things changed, they lost hope in the electoral process and the power of their Votes, but until Nigerians realise it is their collective lack of responsibility that has helped keep the status quo, they will continue to suffer electoral mal-practice. The truth is, we can buy back our democracy and our stolen mandate, the time is coming, and as a matter of fact it has come, when some of youth will start acting out their ideas in Nigeria.
The destiny of Nigeria lies in our hands. No Policeman or soldier will shoot you for airing your views when he knows you're fighting for his children's future. Information is the key to great changes in Nigeria. Nigerians need to be informed on the power of their democracy in the language they can understand. The Nigerian psyche needs to be fixed, and as soon as the youth, start playing their part in this system of government, instead of continuing to pass blame to the politicians who are actually supposed to be under the people, not above, then we will achieve the Nigerian Dream. I believe the solution is truly that simple!
Every revolution that has happened in history started with concerned citizens bouncing off progressive ideas on each other. I want you to know that real change is coming to Nigeria very soon. I hope you join “THE NIGERIAN YOUTH DREAM MOVEMENT” To achieve that Goal of the Nigerian Dream. I BELIEVE IN THE NIGERIAN DREAM…..
